Commissioner's Corner

Dear Legislative Partners:

In this edition of DAS Newsline, we highlight Cybersecurity Awareness Month; recognize the opening of the new annex at the Burritt Library at Central Connecticut State University; celebrate a second-consecutive grade of “A-" in the biennial Digital States Survey, and more.

Please feel free to share this information with your constituents.

Sincerely,

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. DAS is reinforcing our message that it is up to all of us to take actions to keep ourselves and our organizations safe online.

Securing our world starts with four simple actions:

🔒 Use strong passwords
🔑 Enable multi-factor authentication
🎣 Recognize and report phishing
💾 Update your software

The addition to the Burritt Library at Central Connecticut State University is officially open.

The new space includes classrooms, labs, collaborative spaces, and academic offices, and it was built with sustainability in mind, as one of the first state-constructed projects utilizing a timber frame (from sustainably harvested wood!).

DAS was proud to work closely with Central to administer this important project that will serve students well for decades to come.

Connecticut Continues its Digital States Survey Success

DAS is thrilled that the Center for Digital Government has given Connecticut national recognition for its ongoing digital government efforts, awarding the state with its second-consecutive grade of “A-” and ranking it first in the nation in digital services related to transportation and motor vehicles.

Connecticut’s digital services program is primarily based out of the Bureau of Information Technology Solutions (BITS) within DAS, but improving the digital experience for our residents involves deep collaboration across all agencies.

This recognition is a testament to the progress we have made toward Governor Lamont's vision for an all-digital state government.

Introducing CT Gateway

Text: CT Gateway Coming Soon!

Applications to participate in DAS's Construction Contractor Prequalification Program and to participate in our Supplier Diversity Program by becoming certified as a Small Business Enterprise and Minority Business Enterprise (SBE/MBE) will soon be moving from BizNet to a new platform called CT Gateway. This move signifies our commitment to serving the business community with a modern, user-friendly process including:

  • A mobile-friendly application;
  • Greater accessibility for individuals with disabilities;
  • Realtime application status.

The BizNet applications previously used for SBE/MBE and Prequalification will be discontinued in tandem with the rollout of CT Gateway.

As we prepare for this transition, the department will host training sessions on how to access and navigate the new SBE/MBE application. There are two opportunities to attend the training live: Tuesday, November 12 at 1pm and Thursday, November 14 at 11am.

  • November 12 training registration (Zoom)
  • November 14 training registration (Zoom)

Following the training, the webinars will be available on demand.

The DAS Business Outreach Team is available to help you. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at DAS-DLSupplierDiversity@ct.gov or 860-713-5236.
