The pro teams use data analytics to make these decisions, and now Pitt does too. The partnership between Pitt Information Technology and Pitt Athletics has put the Panthers in with the big leagues, turning numbers into informed decisions. The partnership started with the creation of a financial dashboard for managing budgets in real time. Now, the department has shifted their focus to supporting other aspects of Pitt Athletics with data. They are implementing a dashboard that creates a 360-degree view of fans to help customize the Panther experience for each person in order to maintain, increase, or reinvigorate their level of engagement. In the future, analytics will be used to support athletic performance and track on-field statistics. Self-Service Account Activation for New HiresNewly hired Pitt employees can now activate their University Computing Account through a self-service option, which will allow them to access their personal account, create passwords and email aliases, and get to work. Click here to view the simple process. Request New Software in the LabsAre you looking to utilize new software in your classes or labs in the upcoming terms? Students aren’t permitted to download software to lab machines, but Pitt IT can equip Student Computing Lab and Virtual Lab machines with the appropriate software. Simply request the software before the new term begins using this easy online request form. PittNet VPN (Global Protect) EnhancementsPitt IT recently implemented enhancements to PittNet VPN (GlobalProtect) that save users time and improve their experience when connecting to restricted University resources. You can now reestablish your VPN connection less often, more quickly, and with fewer Duo prompts when your device goes to sleep or displays a screen saver. Panopto Recording ChangesBeginning July 1, unviewed instructional videos saved in Panopto will be archived after 12 months, and then permanently deleted after 30 months. Also beginning on July 1, Zoom recordings will be saved in Zoom instead of Panopto, and moved to the Trash and deleted after 60 days. Click here for more information.
