Mangurian Foundation gift will lead to nation’s top neuroimaging facility at UF Health

A $5 million gift from the Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation has set the stage for the UF College of Medicine to build a comprehensive brain imaging facility at the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases to explore the brain as never before.

The new laboratory space will enhance vital clinical research in both dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson’s disease dementia.

The Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has named Mark S. Bleiweis, M.D., as the recipient of the Philip O. Lichtblau, M.D., Award, given annually to a pediatric surgeon or surgical specialist who has made significant contributions to the Children’s Medical Services Program.

UF launches state-of-the-art neuro-oncology lab

Top brain cancer researchers and UF leaders unveiled a world-class neuro-oncology laboratory at UF’s Basic Science Building July 24.

The Adam Michael Rosen Neuro-Oncology Laboratory will provide an innovative workspace and the best and latest equipment to the team of Dr. Duane Mitchell, focused on stimulating immune responses against malignant brain tumor cells.

Faculty focus groups underway during Phase 2 of strategic planning

Faculty members met this week with the dean’s project management team to discuss feedback and ideas received during the strategic planning process. Department chairs nominated the faculty participants to ensure representation across departments. Several more faculty focus group meetings are planned as part of the second phase of the college's strategic planning process.
