My Isolation Diary
A Royal Announcement: BE Con is BACK!

By Emily Vogel

Dear Diary,

While Meghan Markle was able to avoid Googling Prince Harry, I struggle with the same of level self-restraint. For example, as soon as WrapWomen announced the 2021 BE Mentorship Conference (May 11-13), I was the opposite of cool and collected. I told everyone I knew. I was tweeting about it. I was shouting it from rooftops. I sent all my friends save the dates… basically everything I do after I meet a cute guy. Which is probably why I have a career hyping up events and not a relationship with a Royal.

This year's virtual BE Conference will offer three days of  mentorship, education and career-building workshops by the most influential women in media and entertainment, WrapWomen. Starting Tuesday, May 11th join us for an exclusive digital event tailored to those who are reaching for the next level of their career. ‘The Wilds’ Star Mia Healey Calls on Hollywood to Greenlight More LGBTQ+ Inclusive Projects

WrapWomen recently caught up with Mia Healey who stars as Shelby Goodkind in Amazon's "The Wilds." The series follows a group of teen girls - varying in culture, class and sexuality - who are left stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash,  but are unaware they are the subjects of a social experiment.

Up until the show premiered, the only on-screen lesbian stories Healey had seen were in more mature and serious films. But in playing the role of Shelby, she felt it was critical for audiences to see a queer relationship from a teenage perspective.

“I think this is a really important time and a very overdue moment for these stories to come to light,” Healey said. “Ignorance is a very dangerous thing. If people — especially younger people — watching TV are seeing people that are different to them on screen, that are being respected by their colleagues and respected by the people that they’re working with, then they’re going to respect people in life.”

There are many paths you can take if you want to stand against anti-Asian violence: donating, supporting small businesses, spreading awareness, reporting instances of racism, educating yourself, and sharing GoFundMe campaigns. How to Save Money Every Single Day (Without Even Realizing It)

(Source: PopTV)

About once every month I find myself Googling, "How to save money." I typically come across advice that means well, but about 30 minutes into my research  I say "screw it" and Postmate Jon + Vinnys. Are there any ways to save money that I can easily incorporate into my daily life? Yes!

To provide some advice, Glamour talked to Cara Smyth, chair of Fashion Makes Change, who offered up easy ways you can save some cash by simply paying closer attention to your daily routines.

1. Examine your relationship with your clothes
2. Be mindful of where you're shopping
3. Use a clothesline
4. Green up your journey
5. WFH? Use all the paper
6. Re-think your drinking water

3 States Have Passed Laws Targeting Transgender Athletes This Month Alone

(Source: HuffPost)

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) announced Friday that he’d signed a law prohibiting transgender children from participating in middle and high school sports under their gender identity, saying the legislation would “ensure fair competition.”

Tennessee is the third state to pass a law targeting transgender athletes in March alone. Arkansas on Thursday banned transgender athletes from competing in girls’ sports, and Mississippi passed a similar prohibition earlier this month. But in total, a spate of anti-transgender laws are being considered in at least 20 states across the nation.

Under Tennessee’s ban, student athletes would be required to show proof of what sex they were designated at birth in order to participate in middle and high school sports.

Opponents, however, have argued that the law is a violation of Title IX, a federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in schools that receive federal money.

Medical experts and researchers have also noted the lack of evidence supporting the necessity of such a ban.
