Happy Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week!

Join the Graduate Studies team and the Graduate and Professional Student Government Organization (GPSG) the week of April 1 as we celebrate YOU, your successes, and your many contributions to the University and our community during Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week (GPSAW).

The Graduate Studies team will be hosting a giftcard giveaway on our Instagram account as part of Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week! Take selfies as you enjoy your favorite Graduate Studies-sponsored event during the week and tag our Instagram account (@pittgradstudies). All participants will be entered into a drawing; one entry per selfie. Four lucky participants will randomly be selected to win a $50 MasterCard-branded gift card during the week of April 8.

Many events are being held in the Graduate and Professional Student Lounge located on the fifth floor of the William Pitt Union (WPU) in room 524. The space is dedicated for graduate and professional students to study, take a break, or connect with other grads from across campus. It can be accessed with your Pitt ID and is open according to the posted WPU building hours

University News & Resources

Pitt Student Health Insurance Medical Hardship Assistance Fund

The aim of the Pitt Student Insurance Medical Hardship Assistance Fund (MHAF) is to provide funding to graduate and professional students who face financial hardship due to the difference in medical costs between the 2022-23 Graduate Student Health Insurance plan and the 2023-24 Graduate Student Health Insurance plan.

Questions about the fund can be directed to medhardship@pitt.edu.

Student Emergency Assistance Fund

The Student Emergency Assistance Fund provides financial support for degree-seeking students of the University of Pittsburgh with unanticipated and insurmountable expenses related to emergency situations that may result in students facing financial hardship. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students may apply for funds when they experience a financial barrier based on an emergency situation, and when they have exhausted all other available resources.

Questions may be directed to emergencyfund@pitt.edu.

Higher Education Sexual Misconduct and Assault Survey - Closing on March 20

All Pitt students received an email from the Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (OEDI) requesting participation in the Higher Education Sexual Misconduct and Awareness Survey. If you haven’t responded yet, we encourage you to take a few minutes to do so.

Student voices provide the University with a sharper, clearer picture of the environment on our campuses and help the University to improve the ways that it responds to and prevents sexual assault and sexual misconduct.

This survey is being conducted for research purposes only by an outside company, Westat Inc., which specializes in this type of data collection. Your participation in this confidential survey is voluntary — but we will get more accurate results with a larger number of participants.

Because these topics may be difficult and painful, OEDI is available at diversity@pitt.edu to discuss issues raised in this survey and during drop-in hours on Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., on the 18th floor of the Cathedral of Learning. Resources are also available at diversity.pitt.edu/prevention, and additional support can be accessed via the University Counseling Center or Pittsburgh Action Against Rape, both of which have 24/7 support lines.

Ask a Therapist

Formerly known as Let's Talk, Ask a Therapist is a drop-in service that offers informal, confidential consultation with a clinician from the University Counseling Center.

These consultations are free for all enrolled University of Pittsburgh students. Consultations are typically 10-15 minutes long and are offered in-person in the Student Success Hub (217 Langley Hall).

· Wednesday, March 20: 3-4 p.m.

· Wednesday, April 17: 3-4 p.m.
