Message from CEO

Hello Members,

What a fantastic Business After Hours we had this week at Hyphen Library & Gallery. It was great to see so many happy faces from both sides of the river. I had many comments from those present who had been inside Hyphen previously about what a great asset this facility is to Wodonga.

So much fun being had with Wodonga GEMS.  We are seeing Generosity, Empathy, Motivation and Success through participation in the fun daily challenges. We have one business owner who has managed to complete every daily activity, bar one and she is working on catching up on that one. If you haven’t seen the sunset collages on our socials, do yourself the proverbial favour and look for them.

The Business Women Albury Wodonga Gala Event on November 5 featuring Jana Pittman sold out within hours of going on sale this week. What a positive sign this is that people are wanting to be out and about again and we would like to give a big shout out to the Business Women Albury Wodonga committee that puts in countless volunteer hours to bring such amazing events like this. We are very grateful for their passion and efforts on behalf of the local business community!

As we are all very aware there is a lot of illnesses impacting all aspects of our lives at the present. We all have seen what is happening in schools, businesses and our personal lives with the spread of Covid, influenza and other illnesses.  I urge us all to continue to work together and apply common-sense preventative measures we can help keep ourselves, our loved ones and our businesses safe. If you are unwell, stay home. Individuals and workplaces are still able to make their own rules around face masks. However the recommendation for the best protection is to wear a mask when indoors or if you are unable to socially distance from others. Working from home, where possible, is also recommended as another way to reduce movement and exposures. Increasing air flow and ventilation is also another effective and practical way to reduce the risks. There are grants and funding available for businesses wishing to upgrade and improve their ventilation capabilities. We have included some of those in this newsletter so take the time to see if your business qualifies. The last thing business and indeed the wider community needs right now is new Government mandates.

Wellbeing with a Difference

Manic Monday

Everybody always asks kids, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” That’s fine, but what do you want to be RIGHT NOW? Draw a picture of you as your dream-self. If you have accomplished that dream self, don’t be shy about sharing that as well! In Wodonga we are surrounded by incredibly fearless entrepreneurs and leaders that are chasing their dreams every day. And we want to shout that from the rooftops!

Sunrise/Sunset Symbolism

Just like the sunrise symbolizes the start of the day and a new beginning, sunset symbolism indicates the completion of a cycle and an end to the proceedings. It’s commonly present together with the sunrise symbolism because they form an entity, a cycle. They happen each day, and there’s no changing that, which is typical of the force of Nature that they both are. Today we want you to watch a sunrise or a sunset and tell us what you are excited about starting or completing.

What do you stand for?

Every business has a mission statement. We want you to write your personal mission statement and share it with us for 5 points.

Time Out

Time is moving so quickly these days that we want to capture a little moment of that. Create a time capsule of what your day or world is like right now. You can decide how long and where you would like to save your “Moment of Time” but it must be at least 30 days to qualify for the points.

Where the wind blows

Girl Scouts write wishes on paper airplanes and send them out into the world. But we don’t trust airlines with all the cancellations and delays lately to get our wishes where they need to go. Write your wishes on tiny pieces of  biodegradable confetti made from leaves and cast them into the wind.

Hi all,

Gem Awards are rocking and I know I am enjoying every moment of it! Fun, prizes, laughs and most importantly, BLING!!!! We are a bit backed up in delivering the prizes so I will be running around soon enough with goodies for so many of the participants! There might even be a sneaky treat delivery or two so if you haven't completed a challenge, there is still plenty of time to get in on the fun! Can't wait to see what everyone is up to next week. Make sure you keep an eye out for me out and about in my eye catching Gem outfit.

I will be launching something new also.  'Off the Cuff'.  I will be spotlighting members in a fun more personal way.  Getting to know our business friends like this will hopefully make us a even stronger community that will grow more together.

#strongerwodonga
