Greetings Oakland Promise Community,
The arrival of Spring brings with it a sense of fresh starts and new beginnings. That said, this time may resonate a little differently with some of the folks who are reading this Newsletter as you may be looking forward to some things coming to an end.
Whether you are an underclassman counting down the days till the end of the current semester or quarter, or a graduating senior looking forward to ending this chapter in your educational journey, your Oakland Promise College Access and Completion teams invite you to take a moment to embrace the arrival of this fresh new season and use it to renew your commitment to all of the goals you may have set for yourself earlier in the year. Or, if you haven’t yet set any goals, now is the perfect time to do so!
Either way, know that the OP team is here to guide and support you and that we look forward to celebrating these fresh new endings with you soon!

Oakland Promise College & Career Week!
This month we want to showcase the work that our colleagues in our Kindergarten to College (K2C) program are doing to help pave the way for our younger generation of Oakland Promise Scholars, while also providing opportunities for our current scholars to support and get involved as well!
A HUGE shoutout and THANK YOU to the K2C team, and to those scholars and mentors who will be participating in this year’s OP College and Career Week Events, April 18th-22nd!
The week will feature live activities from Stanford Nanoscience, a virtual book reading of the ABC’s of HBCU’s by author Claudia Walker, and more fun activities. Check out below for a list of this week's planned events and a link to register to attend!
UC Davis Medical School Info Session
Join us on Wednesday 4/27 from 3:30-4:30 for a Info Session hosted by UC Davis Medical Center. A representative from UC Davis Medical School will be discussing the path to medical school and different medical careers. Participants will learn about the qualifications they need, the financial cost, and application process to get into the school.
Career Panel - Medicine, Tech, & Business
Join us for a career panel with professional in the fields of medicine, tech and business on Thursday 4/28, 5-6:30pm. These professionals will be discussing their experience navigating life post graduation and how they decided what career was right for them. Both sessions are open to all high school and college students. If you cannot attend either event, but still wish to receive more information regarding next steps, please still register and we'll get that information to you!
