June 1, 2022 CCAMPIS Pre-Application WebinarOn Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 1pm ET, the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program will hold a pre-application technical assistance webinar. To register and gain access to the webinar, interested participants should e-mail Candace.Lee@ed.gov with their name, e-mail address, and telephone number. As a reminder, the Department of Education (ED, Department) recently posted a notice inviting applications (NIA) in the Federal Register for the CCAMPIS program. CCAMPIS supports 4-year grants to institutions of higher education to increase the participation of low-income parents in postsecondary education, through the provision of campus-based childcare services. Funds are used to support or establish campus-based childcare programs primarily serving the needs of low-income students enrolled in such institutions. For more information on required, competitive, and invitation priorities for the proposals and on how to apply, please visit here. The deadline to apply is July 11, 2022. Reminder to Take Action: Ask Congress to Support Short Term PellCongress is currently considering two legislative proposals to address U.S. global competitiveness and innovation. In order to reconcile the differences between the two proposals, the House and Senate are engaging in a legislative process called a "Conference Committee" to determine the final bill language. One of the two proposals, the House-passed COMPETES Act, includes a provision that would extend Pell Grant eligibility to shorter term workforce training programs. Community colleges have been longtime supporters of "short term Pell Grants," and we are urging all members of Congress to support keeping this provision in the final proposal that results from the Conference Committee. Please reach out to your elected officials and ask them to support Short Term Pell in the Conference Committee negotiations using our Advocacy Action Campaign! New FIPSE Grant OpportunityThe Department of Education (Department) issued a notice inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2022 for the Open Textbooks Pilot program conducted under the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE). The Open Textbooks Pilot program supports projects at eligible institutions of higher education (IHEs) that create new open textbooks and expand the use of open textbooks and course materials in courses that are part of a degree-granting program, particularly those with high enrollments. For more information on required, competitive, and invitation priorities for the proposals and on how to apply, please visit here. The deadline to apply is July 25, 2022.
