Local State of Emergency Declared for Auckland: Important Information for Unitec Students

Auckland Emergency Management has declared a State of Local Emergency and advises you to plan any travel carefully.
Both Unitec campuses have now closed until further notice. We will continue to assess the weather conditions and update you of any changes to on-campus teaching when we can.
In the meantime, stay home if possible, do not travel unless absolutely necessary, drive to the conditions, and ensure you have a bad-weather plan in place. For useful tips on creating a bad-weather plan or managing an emergency, visit getready.govt.nz.

Where can I find the latest information about Auckland's severe weather?
Auckland Emergency Management provides the latest information on heavy rain forecast for the region, welfare assistance and how to ask for help here.
Please ensure you check the site regularly. It includes key instructions on how to respond in an emergency.
Are Unitec campuses open?
Both Unitec Campuses are closed to the public and teaching and learning will be delivered online until further notice. Please do not enter Unitec grounds during this time.
I’m having issues connecting to online classes. Who should I call?
Check out how you can access your classes through zoom via your Moodle account. You can also contact the IT team on 0800 275 467 or email itsupport@unitec.ac.nz.
How can I access Unitec's Student Support Services?
Our Student Services can still provide support remotely. You can access a range of Support Services from assignment help, counselling and hardship assistance here or via unitec.ac.nz/help.

How will I know when I can return to campus?
Our campuses are expected to open as usual tomorrow. You will receive an email update to confirm campuses have re-opened.
We understand this can be disruptive and want to acknowledge your ongoing resilience and continued commitment to your studies during this challenging time.
