Fajen Farm May 2025 Update No images? Click here Things are Sprouting at Fajen FarmSeedlings Settling In, Pond Progress, New Trees & a Honey Preview!Spring flew by in a flurry of soil, seedlings, and sunshine, and we’re thrilled to share what’s been happening on the farm. Here are four quick snapshots from our latest “all hands on deck” weeks. What's Emerging in the Gardens?
Months of propagating and seedling babysitting are finally paying off. Summer veggies are tucked into rows and are already looking right at home. Garlic planted late last fall has popped up neat green spears, early onions are stretching skyward, and the potato plants are a foot tall. Perennial favorites—raspberries, asparagus, and our lovingly-nurtured lavender—are back for another season...thankfully. 👇These fellas put in the sweat + time to get all the planting done, which made me = one happy momma!
Pond ProgressStarting last fall, our big pond got a makeover. Thanks to some heavy machine work and recent rains, the expanded basin is finally filling. New retention features mean healthier banks, clearer water, and a better home for aquatic life.
Growing Our Trees & Berries! Our annual tree-management project keeps gaining momentum: 50 saplings went into the ground this spring, each snug in a tree tube. Those tubes really do the trick—last year’s plantings are already peeking out the top and pushing new growth. Aronia berry bushes set last year are flourishing too; we're hoping to harvest in 2026. Meanwhile, the orchard is full of tiny green apples—little promises of autumn pies!
🐝Let's Talk Bees! 🐝The more seasons we spend with our bees, the more they amaze us. We’re focusing on selective breeding to keep the strongest genetics thriving in the yard, and the colonies have rewarded us by filling honey supers early. If all stays on track, the 2025 harvest should spin out in August. You helped us sell out in record time last year, and—as always—our email subscribers get first dibs when the jars are ready. Your enthusiasm makes beekeeping extra sweet. Watch for our late summer email when we announce our honey is ready! We can’t say it enough: your support fuels every seed we plant and every hive we tend. If you have questions, ideas, or just want to talk gardening, hit reply—we love hearing from our community. With gratitude and a bit of dirt under our nails, Micholyn & Brian |
