What's Up in Faculty Development? Re-imagining Your DevelopmentA message from your Faculty Development Team: Everything is different. COVID-19 has impacted every facet of our lives – personally and professionally. Different tools are needed to be successful during this unprecedented time. Our goal is to continue to deliver high-quality, high-yield professional development resources. However, the lens by which we develop and deliver those resources has been reimagined. In the coming weeks, we will work creatively to provide tools and information needed for the work you are doing now, while continuing to prepare you for future success in our academic mission areas. Take this opportunity to record a quick video to recognize others for their extraordinary contributions to Emory and the community during these unprecedented times. Prefer an email shout-out? No problem! Send to our communications team at deptofmed@emory.edu. We are pleased to have Monica M. Farley, MD as our first shout-out. Thank you Dr. Farley for all you do! As the COVID-19 crisis continues, anxious patients are entering Emory Healthcare facilities for medical care. To meet this increase in demand, many Department of Medicine faculty are providing guidance during this challenging time. One of these faculty members is Monica M. Farley, MD, professor of medicine and director of the Division of Infectious Diseases. Currently serving at the Atlanta VA Medical Center as an infectious disease attending, Farley is on the front lines of the pandemic. She interacts with patients who are both suspected to be infected and positive for the virus, often risking her own health to serve patients and support the hospital care teams. As an attending, Farley consults with patients and their hospital medicine and ICU physicians, and recommends care plans to medical teams. The direction she provides is crucial, as there is not a single treatment plan for COVID-19 at this time. As hospital treatment approaches constantly change and new regimens are implemented, her knowledge of infectious diseases and the COVID-19 treatment research is critical to providing the best possible care to patients. The Department of Medicine applauds Dr. Farley for her dedication to her patients and her tireless commitment to guiding medical teams. Her service is just one example of the many selfless health care providers serving our community during this crisis. Highlighted ResourcesSchool of Medicine Resources Other Emory Resources
