Funding Opportunities

Pitch Your Own Immersive Fellowship (PDF)

Students can create an immersive fellowship with 501(c)(3) organizations in the social impact sector, public sector institutions, or industry. Applications will be reviewed, and grants awarded, on a rolling basis and as long as resources last.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to schedule a consultation with the Humanities Engage team to discuss the viability of their prospective project. Additionally, applicants considering projects with organizations in the Pittsburgh region are requested to contact the Humanities Engage team first, so that they can help orient you to pre-existing contacts and liaise appropriately. Learn about the projects doctoral students did last year.

Ph.D. students are expected to embed themselves within, or otherwise collaborate intensively with, institutions or communities as part of their Ph.D. research. For questions about eligibility and application requirements, students should contact their DGS. Applications are due February 1, 2022. Manuel Garzon

Student Spotlight: Manuel Garzon

“This summer micro-internship not only allowed me to put my previous academic and mentoring experience into practice, but also gave me an understanding of contemporary pedagogical work outside the traditional classroom interaction.”

Manuel Garzon (Hispanic Languages and Literatures) found his summer 2021 administrative micro-internship to be deeply formative in terms of professionalism and teamwork. He also discovered his creativity as he helped to develop scripts for video-based case studies for The Mentoring Academy.
