Message from the Principal
Welcome to our Semester Newsletter
This newsletter displays the extraordinary success of our students, staff and wider community over the past six months. As you read through the latest news from our College, I hope that not only are our educational achievements clear but that each element of our Strategic Plan for 2025-2027 may shine through.
The six focuses of this new Strategic Plan are:

Community and Partnerships
Each of these points work together to inform the path that our College is taking in our overall mission “to provide educational excellence in a Christian context, addressing the needs of individuals for lifelong learning”.
Indeed, the intention behind our recent Easter Services was not only to share the Christian message but also to partner with a local church and bring our community together. Another successful event, ‘Annie: The Musical’, again strengthened the College community while also providing a fantastic way for the students involved to learn about theatre and music.

Annie: The Musical
The curtain has closed on Kennedy Baptist College's production of 'Annie: The Musical'! The efforts of students, staff and volunteers over more than half a year culminated in a huge weekend of music, with six performances over four days thrilling families and friends.

Class of 2024 WACE
Our Year 12 WACE results from 2024 again reflect the efforts of both our students and our teachers, who consistently bring the best out of those attending the College. Read the statistics that reinforce our success.
From Easter to Eternity
What did your family celebrate at Easter time? At Kennedy, we didn't just celebrate with chocolate eggs and hot cross buns, but we explored together the connection that the Easter weekend has to eternity.
International Tours
Travel has the power to transform the educational experience of our students and inspire their future aspirations. Discovering different cultures and environments also widens the world view of students, and this was certainly the case in recent Kennedy tours to Japan and the United States.
Japan Ski Tour Coordinator Mr Jonathan Groom wrote on the week-long trip to Japan while USA Tour Coordinator Mr Rick Cricelli told us about a rollercoaster two-week trip to the States.
Interschool Swimming
Our second successive year in the ACC Division B Interschool Swimming Carnival was our most successful yet, with nearly a hundred students contributing to our highest-ever points total in the division.
Masterplan Build Update
As part of our efforts to continuously improve the facilities of Kennedy Baptist College, we have started to see some major changes take place as we increase the number of classrooms in Block 3.
This will allow us to move some temporary classroom structures and expand the carparking space for future families.

Kennedy Transform Centre (Cambodia)
The Kennedy Transform Centre in Cambodia, launched in October 2017 in partnership with Transform Cambodia, is Kennedy's first international initiative to rescue children from poverty. Starting with seven staff members and 103 children, the Centre provides daily English tuition, healthcare, and leadership training to empower future changemakers.
Currently running as Life Centres, Kennedy continues to partner with Transform Cambodia to support these initiatives.

Kennedy Insights
Our Kennedy Insights are forums open to any adults of our community. Our upcoming forum will hep parents develop strategies and tools to reduce the anxiety of their children and improve emotional well-being.
P&F Fundraiser - Movie Night
Our Parents and Friends Association will host a movie fundraiser on 12 June. Please follow them to receive notifications about ticket launches. We hope to see you there.
Spotlight on Our Community: Celebrating Alumni, Staff, and Students
From Student to Pastor
Somerville Baptist College Alumni Shannon Hopper probably didn't see himself standing on the Auditorium stage helping to lead an Easter Service, never mind planting a church in Cambodia or leading Nations Church Myaree back home in Perth, but that is exactly where his journey of faith has taken him.
We sat down with Shannon to discuss this journey, which began when the teachers of Kennedy's forerunner College, Somerville, showed him how to love people well while allowing him to explore his own values for life.
Deb Scorer's Journey at Kennedy
If you haven't met Deb Scorer, then there's at least a good chance that you've heard her voice!
As well as contributing to recorded phone greetings for the College, Deb has been at the forefront of our Administration team for more than twenty years, working in reception and helping to shape the welcoming culture at Kennedy.
We sat down with Deb and discussed her journey at Kennedy Baptist College and her plans for retirement.
Farewell and thank you
Kennedy Baptist College is honoured to be an employer of choice for outstanding staff. Our retiring teachers stand testament to this, each one excelling in their different roles since they began at Kennedy in 2013, our establishment year.
Thank you to Mr Ian Wilmot (Head of Technologies), Mr Andrew Arnold (Technologies) and Mrs Catherine Van Der Kooij (Visual Arts) for your service in educating the students at Kennedy and giving them such great care and attention.
We also say goodbye to the retiring Mr David Scorer, who has been a driver for the College since our bus program began and who was a friendly face for many of our students at the beginning and end of each school day.
It was a privilege to come together for an all-staff celebration last year and to hear your stories of what the College staff and mission have meant to each of you. Your work in building up our community will continue to be evident in the years to come.

Kennedy Baptist College has emerged over the last ten years as a prominent Secondary College in Perth's south. As well as Kennedy Alumni, we are excited to welcome the Alumni of our two forerunner schools, Winthrop Baptist College and Somerville Baptist College, into our Alumni family.
