Keep up-to-date with what's been going on at Highgate Hill House School! Principal updateHello all, The weather during this last week has been challenging to say the least, and I can only apologise for any disruption that closing the school has caused. Due to our rural location and the distance that some pupils and staff travel to school and the icy conditions here on site, we did not feel that it was safe to open. I hope that you are all able to enjoy a well-deserved, relaxing Christmas break and are looking forward to the big day! Both Cornwall and Devon have a range of inclusive activity clubs on offer throughout the Christmas break, for children aged 5 to 16 years, across the region. There are some fantastic clubs to choose from, so please do take a look further down in this newsletter for more information and links to book. Both programmes will include a hot meal each day (free for those children in receipt of free school meals). As always, if you have any questions, or anything you would like to discuss with me, please don't hesitate to get in touch in the usual way: kerry.taylor@hhhschool.co.uk, 01288 341998 or 07534659306. Please call my mobile if you have any safeguarding concerns over the Christmas break. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! Warm wishes, Kerry Taylor Principal Highgate's Got TalentRegrettably, due to the icy roads and school car park, plus snow that fell overnight onto freezing ground, we had to make the difficult decision to close school on Wednesday 14th December and postpone the Highgate's Got Talent event until the first Friday of the new term. Our new date for this event is: Friday 6th January We apologise for any inconvenience caused, we know how much everyone was looking forward to performing and watching this event, so thankfully we won't have to wait too long. We will be asking parents/carers to confirm their attendance on this new date to reserve seats.
Strep A/Scarlet Fever symptomsThere are lots of viruses that cause sore throats, colds and coughs circulating at the moment. Scarlet fever and ‘strep throat’ are common childhood illnesses that can be treated easily with antibiotics. However, children can on occasion develop a bacterial infection on top of a virus and that can make them more unwell. As a parent, if you feel that your child seems seriously unwell, you should trust your own judgement. Call 999 or go to A&E if:
As with many bugs, good hand and respiratory hygiene are important for stopping the spread.
