GA CTSA TL1 (T32-like) Training Grant Clinical and Translational Research Training
Postdoc deadline: Friday, March 15
The TL1 program is focused on providing innovative didactic and mentored clinical and translational research (CTR) training to individuals interested in careers that encompass CTR and clinical and translational science (CTS).

 

Study participants needed for flu vaccine study

  • Who? Healthy males and non-pregnant females between 18 and 64 years of age, who have not received a seasonal flu vaccine for the current year.
  • Why? We are studying immune responses to flu vaccination in blood and bone marrow.
  • Where? All study visits will be held in a clinical research unit at Emory University Hospital.
  • What? Participants will have health screenings, blood draws, blood tests, bone marrow sampling, and physical exams by licensed health professionals before and after receiving an FDA-approved flu vaccine (flu vaccine will be given as part of this study). There will be a total of eight study visits over a year including three bone marrow draws/aspirates at the day zero, day 28, and day 365 visits. Participants will be compensated up to a total of $1850 for completion of all scheduled study visits.

Nominations are now requested for the Outstanding Scientific Citation RYSE Award. This award will support and recognize rising URiM researchers producing outstanding research publications in all research areas, including basic, clinical, public health, health services, and health equity. Awardees will present at Health Equity Day. Submit here

2024 Health Equity Day

This half-day conference aims to raise awareness and encourage action around the systemic health disparities that exist across racial, ethnic, cultural, and social groups, while also recognizing interventions and research across the department centered on health equity and historically underrepresented groups in medicine. The event brings together stakeholders from all divisions and ranks, providing a platform to share compelling new findings, facilitate scientific exchange, and identify opportunities for collaboration.

The purpose of this FOA is to focus on developing, adapting, or validating point-of-care technologies that can be rapidly applied to heart, lung, blood, or sleep disorders, with additional interest in projects that incorporate complementary and integrative health approaches.

American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST)

Research Grant in Critical Care Medicine
The purpose of this FOA is to advance the understanding of critical care medicine and be clinically relevant with a focus on implications of health disparities on outcomes from critical illness.

Research Grant in COPD
The purpose of this FOA is to address clinical, population, or community engagement/health services aspects of COPD with relevance to the prevention and/or reduction in morbidity or mortality associated with COPD.

Research Grant in Nontuberculous Mycobacteria Diseases
The purpose of this FOA is to address important and timely issues of nontuberculous mycobacteria diseases.

DOM researchers can request grant writing and editing services from Janet Gross, PhD on projects including resubmissions, career development awards, and multicenter grants. These services are offered through a cost sharing effort between the department and the researcher’s division and must be approved by both.

Madeleine Hackney (Geriatrics) received funding from Georgia State/NIH for a project entitled, “Motor learning of fall resistant skills from laboratory-induced falling among people with Alzheimer's disease.”
