O, Lord. Give us the strength to not worry about things we cannot control.
Guide us in developing a sense of appreciation.
We look up to you for motivation.
Keep our mind at peace and help us prevent it from wandering off. Shelter us in your glory.
In Jesus we trust. Amen.
TERM 1 WEEK 2 - 7 FEBRUARY 2024
OUR LADY OF GRACE NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents and Caregivers, In last week’s Gospel, Mark retells the story of Jesus beginning his Ministry and we start to develop an understanding of the volume of people who were seeking Jesus out to heal them. We learn that even in the busiest of times, Jesus took time out for solitude and prayer. As Week 2 continues, let us look for those quiet times to pray and to listen to God’s call. Last Friday, I had the privilege of working with our Year 6 Leaders as they participated in the Leadership Retreat. The depth of understanding the children have about our school and the House Virtues we try to live each day was evident. They could clearly demonstrate how we see God in the everyday and the way our leadership is influenced
by this, which was also reflected in some beautiful prayers that were written for our Monday morning Prayer assembly. Thank you to Mrs Magee, Miss Trinder, Mrs Retamal and Mrs Hince for their work. A huge congratulations to all the children for their enthusiastic start to the new school year. At our first assembly for the year, we spoke of what it was like to be nervous in a new setting and that feeling a little nervous was OK. We then went on to remind the children of all the wonderful people who are here to support them this year – family and staff. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the term brings us. Carpark Etiquette & Safety
As we get back into the routine of school pick up and drop off, a reminder to all families to take care and slow down in the car parks that surround the school. We acknowledge that it is currently challenging with the works occurring near the Football Club Rooms, but your assistance in keeping down our speed and being vigilant with small children crossing roads would be appreciated. Parent Information Evening
Thank you to those parents who attended the Parent Information Evening last night. It was wonderful to see so many parents able to join us. It is a busy time of the year, and we appreciate your time. Year level presentations will be sent out on School Stream for those who were unable to attend the evening. Welcome Back Family Picnic - postponed
As mentioned last night, our Welcome Back Family Picnic has been postponed by one week to next Friday 16 February due to the extreme heat. We hope to see many of our existing and new families come together next week instead. Thank you to our wonderful P&F for accommodating the change of plans. As this event now falls during Lent, we won't have a sausage sizzle available on the evening. Stay tuned for further updates! Immunisation Records
Could all Pre-Kindy and Kindy parents please provide their child's most up-to-date immunisation records to admin@olg.wa.edu.au as soon as possible. Alternatively, a printed copy can be supplied to reception. School Fees & Health Care Card
2024 school fees will be sent to each family this week. All families will be required to complete the payment plan. If you have any queries regarding school fees, please contact our Business Manager Kate Corkill via accounts@olg.wa.edu.au.

Extension Programs at OLG
The Learning Extension program at Our Lady of Grace School identifies and supports students of high academic ability by providing opportunities for extension. OLG provides the following extension programs: - iHOTS (Identified Higher Order Thinking Skills Program) – Years 3-6
- Mathematics Extension – Years 1-6

Students identified as eligible for an extension program are considered based on data from diagnostic testing, along with consultation from classroom teachers and the leadership team. Below is a flowchart graphic to explain the selection process for Extension Programs at our school. The Extension Program selection flowchart will also be made available on the school’s website. Parents will receive communication if their child is invited to participate in an extension program, with Year 3-6 selections being organised by the end of Week 3 and the Year 1-2 selections by the end of Week 6. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Church at 9am. All are most welcome. Opening School Mass change of date – Friday 23rd February
As a Catholic school community, we begin our year with the opportunity to celebrate the Eucharist together at our Opening School Mass. At this Mass we give thanks for the many blessings provided for us in the world and to ask God for guidance and energy to make the most of all that we have been provided with. We will also be presenting our new School Leaders, House Captains and Ministry Leaders with their badges as they begin this important leadership role. We will celebrate our Opening Year Mass together at 11:10am on Friday the 23rd of February in the MPA.
