Student Success StoriesCongratulations to the following students! Ben began working with a math tutor at Literacy Pittsburgh's Beaver County site in April 2025 after a residency issue forced him to leave high school his senior year. Without a diploma, he struggled to find a job. Despite moving out at 16 and facing serious health challenges, Ben stayed determined and earned his GED in June 2025.
Now, with support from Program Coordinator Callie Angelo, he’s applying to Penn State Beaver. Ben hopes to study game development and become the first in his immediate family to graduate from college. “No matter what you’ve been through, there will be people who will help you,” Ben says. “I can’t imagine where I’d be without Callie, Literacy Pittsburgh, and all their resources.” Congratulations to Concetta on becoming a United States citizen!
Carlos became a U.S. citizen. He had perfect attendance and practiced English and the citizenship questions consistently. He did not miss a single class. Teacher Tina said, “I am proud to call you an American! What a wonderful student and person! America is lucky to have him!
