You can use your phone for all sorts of things, from academics and campus events to health and dining. The Pitt Mobile App Center serves as your one-stop shop for University-related apps. There are tons of good ones, but we recommend starting with these seven:
Get IT Help Before Classes Get GoingNeed some help setting up your laptop before classes really get intense? Hands-on support is available at Drop-In Support at the University Store on Fifth and G-62 Cathedral of Learning! Don’t be shy, come say hi! You can also contact the 24/7 IT Help Desk for fast, friendly support how and when you want it. Deny Random Duo PromptsOnly approve Duo requests that you initiate when actively logging in and forward suspicious email message as an attachment to phish@pitt.edu. Duo multifactor authentication is designed to prevent unauthorized access to your information and University data, but it requires constant vigilance. Never tap “Approve” if you receive a Duo request that you were not expecting. Simply Search myPittFinding info and services on Pitt's websit4e can be confusing, but not with myPitt. Simply type what you’re looking for into the search bar, and there it is! It's that simple to find whatever you need. Download the Pitt Mobile app to bring all things Pitt to your phone! Meet the Tech AmbassadorsNot sure what tech services you get or how to start using them? The Tech Ambassadors are here for you! They are students like you who happen to like tech. Follow them on Instagram @ UPittIT, leave them a message on their Teams site, or ask them to do a presentation for you and your friends, your res hall floor, your club, or your sorority/fraternity. New Students: Complete Your Security TrainingUniversities are a top target for hackers because they hold a ton of valuable data — everything from social security and credit card numbers to medical records and research data. BioRender 101: Thu., September 21 @ 1 - 2 p.m. Chat Pitt-StylePitt IT knows people use lots of apps to chat with friends, group members, instructors, and colleagues: WhatsApp, iChat, Google Chat, GroupMe. Now that you're at Pitt, the easiest way to do it is with Teams. You can chat one-on-one or start a group chat just by typing in someone's name; no email address or phone number needed. You can share your screen or start a video call. Since Teams chats are persistent, you you can go back and search them or pin them. But it only works if everyone checks Teams, so you and your friends should download the Teams mobile app, and start IMing away. |
