On Tuesday we welcomed Year 6 students into the school for their Orientation Day.  It was a rich and fulfilling day for all the students and a big thank you to all the staff who took part in planning and managing the activities on the day. The Peer Leaders from Year 9 also must be congratulated on the great work they did as well, in meeting and greeting students and assisting them throughout the day. Year 7 2022 is a large group with around 140 students having been accepted for enrolment, with six classes planned for next year. All the students participated collaboratively with their peers and staff, a really good introduction to the school and what is available here for students.
Many of our regular activities have not been able to proceed this year due the restrictions placed on us by the DOE as well as the PHOs which are in force across the state. In lieu of our Pink and Blue Day which is usually held this term, the SRC will be holding an Out of Uniform Day on Friday 10th, Gold Coin donation please, and the school will provide a sausage sizzle for all students at lunchtime.
Could I reassure parents that the school is not planning any vaccination programs for the COVID 19 virus. Parental consent is always sought prior to any vaccination clinic which is scheduled to be held. I have requested staff not to discuss vaccination status with students. At this time, there are many venues which require that students who are 16+ must be double vaccinated to enter their venue. I would however, like to advise, that as we move forward into next year and we are able to include a broader range of activities/excursions for students, vaccination status may have to be declared for students to be able to participate in a particular activity or enter a specific venue.
Invitations have been sent to parents for the Year 12 Graduation on Thursday 9th December, and replies are needed please.  Tickets for the formal are available at the school, up to 12.00pm on Friday 3rd December. The Annual Awards for Years 7 to 11 will be held on Wednesday 8th December and will be available for viewing by families. I look forward to being able to congratulate Year 12 students on completing thirteen years of schooling and recognising the outstanding achievements of all of our students throughout this challenging year.

Showcase of Year 10 Artwork

Showcase of Year 10 Artwork

CHHS is proud to showcase the artwork of our talented year 10 students!!!
The students were required to appropriate a famous artwork and recontextualise it into a modern day setting or idea.
The artworks chosen by the students included the "Mona Lisa", "American Gothic", "The Scream" and "Girl with a Pearl Earring". Their resulting artworks demonstrated a great deal of diversity and creativity in their approach.
