Drawing on the research and lived experience of both local and international experts, the Symposium will consider opportunities to enhance secondary prevention of child sexual abuse in Australia. The day will include a series of keynotes and panel discussions, including conversations with victim-survivors to understand their perspectives on perpetrator-focused prevention. There will also be presentations on international prevention programs focused on adults with harmful sexual thoughts and behaviours as well as their non-offending partners, and insights into research around young people with harmful sexual thoughts and behaviours. Program: Full-day program of presentations, including keynote speakers and panel discussions. A full program will follow. Further details of confirmed speakers are accessible here. Who should attend: We expect the program to be of interest to a broad range of delegates including policy makers, practitioners, academics, law enforcement, advocates and representatives from the private sector such as technology companies, as well as victim-survivors and others personally or professionally affected by child sexual abuse and harmful sexual behaviours. Safety and Wellbeing: We are very mindful that the content of this Symposium can be distressing and, while we are not in a position to provide therapeutic support, we will have a number of safeguards and supports in place on the day. We are continuing to work through these safeguards and support processes and will provide further information shortly.
