He Koha Tukuiho – A Legacy That Lives On The Generator Newsletter Issue 33 He Koha Tukuiho – A Legacy That Lives OnIn 2019, The Generator backed Jena Eyles, a māmā of four from Te Araroa, to launch Yummy Dumplings NZ. Her dream was to build a pakihi that worked around her whānau and uplifted her community. Tragically, Jena passed away while hapū with her fifth child. But her legacy lives on. Her whānau Ashley and John, parents of nine, found her dumpling kai cart for sale after COVID hit their business. With aroha, Jena’s whānau gifted them her famous recipes — including her legendary pāua dumplings. Supported by The Generator, they launched Kings of the Coast, a thriving whānau-led kai business and one of The Generator award winners. Jena’s dreams are now theirs too. Even in her absence, Jena continues to uplift her whānau and hapori. A true cycle of koha tukuiho — paying it forward, Māori style. 💛 Click here to view their story!
