September Mixer at NewStory Tonight
Join us tonight from 5:00-7:00 pm for a Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) Mixer hosted by NewStory Center! The mixer will be held in their barn located behind the main office building at 92 Grove Street in Rutland. Marble Valley Kitchen will cater the event. Hard cider will be provided by Spencer Lanning of Texermont Brewery. As always, we will have a 50/50 raffle, a raffle for fun prizes, and good times! We hope to see you there!
Annual Meeting Award Nominations
The Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region's Annual Meeting is coming up soon. We are seeking nominations for Community Leader, Business Leader, Innovator, and Volunteer of the Year. The winners will be celebrated during the Annual Meeting. The Community Leader of the Year should be a member of CEDRR and have strong ties to the betterment of our community and its residents. The Business Leader of the Year should be a CEDRR member and embody the same mission. They should provide jobs and have an investment in the betterment of our
community. Candidates for the Innovator of the Year Award could be a thinker or tinkerer who is leading the greater Rutland Region toward a more innovative, creative, and inspired future. The Volunteer of the Year is someone who helps organize events, raise money, and/or builds community for the betterment of Rutland County. Stafford Technical Center's Cosmetology Salon Opens for First Time Since the Pandemic
Stafford Technical Center's Cosmetology program is hosting an Open House on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 10:00 AM to Noon. This is the first time the salon has been open to the public since the COVID-19 pandemic. At 10:30, students will talk about the services they offer at the salon. Mini-Services will be available during the event plus complimentary consultations. Food and beverages will be provided by the Stafford Technical Center Culinary Arts students.
Short Term Forgivable Loan Applications Opening
Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA) will be accepting applications beginning September 15, 2022. At this time, please utilize the information below, the FLP Instructions and the FLP Calculator Tool (download) to get a head-start in determining your Eligibility and an Estimated Tentative Loan Amount. The VEDA Short Term Forgivable Loan Program will
provide financial assistance to businesses that continue to experience current and on-going economic harm due to the COVID-19 pandemic. PRIORITY SECTORS: In accordance with guidelines developed by the State, VEDA will initially accept applications from the following industry sectors and business owners: - Travel & Tourism
- Restaurants and Eating Establishments
- Lodging
- Childcare
- Agriculture
- BIPOC owned businesses in all industry sectors

For many of us, September conjures up Back-to-School feelings. Here at The MINT, we’re catching those exact vibes. On Tuesday, September 13, Tim Schneller is back in the Jewelry Lab with Introduction to Jewelry Making
On Wednesday, September 14, Bee Richter is in the Textile Lab with Mend, Hem, & Sew. This is a new class offering focused on mitigating the habits of “Fast Fashion”.
Does your favorite T-shirt have a hole or a busted seam? Did your best dress or tank top break a strap? Have a pair of pants you'd like to learn to hem? Come to The MINT and learn how to use a sewing machine and quickly fix, hem and modify all your favorite fashion pieces!! Participants need to bring a piece of clothing with them that they would like to fix, mend or hem. Any type of fabric is okay but no knits.
