Career Control for Researchers Program - apply now! Do you want to know what your career options are, how to make career choices that are right for you and create strategies for pursuing them? Career Control for Researchers will give you the tools, guidance and confidence to take charge of your career direction, determine your own priorities and accelerate your progress. CaRST is pleased to sponsor participation in this program for a limited number of eligible applicants. Program duration: 8 week program (1 - 1.5 hours per week) Places are strictly limited. Priority will be given to students who are in their second year and beyond of their HDR and have not previously completed Take charge of your career. Presenting your Research with Confidence When: 14 August 2025, 10:30am - 1:00pm If you’re a researcher then at some stage you are going to have to present your findings. It’s tempting to get up and just read your paper, but to really speak to your audience you need to be able to communicate skillfully and with conviction. We’ve all been to dull presentations so it’s worth your while spending a little time to learn how to do it properly. This workshop will provide a clear step-by-step structure that you can use again and again to give high quality presentations. Register here. Professional Communication in the Australian Workplace When: 18 August 2025, 11:00am - 12:00pm Join us for a webinar exploring essential skills for professional communication in the Australian workplace (including the University!). Learn about different communication channels, strategies for clear and effective communication, key principles of workplace etiquette, and how to navigate diverse communication styles. Join Sharron Ferrier and learn how to stretch yourself, and choose confidence. Develop strategies to overcome limiting beliefs that hold you back. Confidence is like a muscle – the more you use it, the stronger it gets. Learn how to ‘feel the fear and do it anyway.’ Register here. Negotiating for Positive Outcomes When: 2 September 2025, 10:00am - 12:00pm The ability to negotiate is consistently rated as one of the most critical skills for being successful – but not many people ever learn how to do it well. In reality, negotiation is a process that incorporates a number of specific skills which can be improved with practice. In this workshop we will look at a flexible model of negotiation that can be applied to a range of different situations, from the short and quick “corridor” negotiation to more formal business negotiations. Would your study benefit from web-based data entry? Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) might be for you. This course will introduce you to REDCap, a rapidly evolving web tool developed by researchers for researchers. Florey Postgraduate Research conference The Florey Postgraduate Research Conference is a major highlight in the Faculty's calendar. This is a great opportunity for you as a student to network with your peers, researchers and academics from across the university. This year, the conference will feature an additional Postgraduate Careers Expo component aimed at providing advice, guidance, opportunity and support for all current students.
