On June 1, Jodie Harris officially assumed the role of president of PIDC. Jodie made history as the 12th chief executive and the first African American woman to serve in the role of president in PIDC’s 65-year history. After returning to her hometown of Philadelphia to take on her new role, she’s optimistic about what’s to come and passionate about moving PIDC’s new Theory of Change and Strategic Framework forward.

Philly Shipyard and Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, LLC recently celebrated the cutting of steel for the Jones Act-compliant Subsea Rock Installation Vessel (SRIV). When complete, the SRIV will be the first such ship to enter the U.S. offshore wind market.

This Summer, URBN kicked off their new partnership with After-School All-Stars. Folks from the URBN Home Office visited two ASAS Summer Camp sites at Philadelphia Public Schools, in Kensington and South Philly, made possible by their Volunteer Paid Time Off program. Participants decorated up-cycled picture frames with fabric from retired Nuuly inventory, teaching the kids about sustainability while letting them flex their creative muscles.
