Hello Members,
I am pleased to announce that at yesterday’s Leadership Team Meeting a new Director has been appointed, to fill a casual vacancy. Our new Leadership Team Member is Pedro Afonso of Afonso Building Solutions.
Welcome aboard, Pedro. Both the Leadership and Operations Teams are looking forward to the positive contribution you will make to our organisation and the Wodonga business community moving forward.
Even though the days are getting colder, we are seeing signs of growth everywhere, including all kinds of new members. Please take the time to say hi and welcome those new faces at the next event because that is what being a member of our Business Wodonga community is all about.

What’s on the ATO Radar for 2022?
This year the ATO will be taking a closer look at record keeping, work related expenses, rental property income and deductions and cryptocurrency transactions.
- Keep records for all business transactions (income and expenses), activity statements and financial reports for at least five years.
- Keep all records relating to employees, contractors and payroll for at least five years.
- If your business is a company, keep all records for at least five years, including director meeting minutes.

Are you using Microsoft Outlook to it's fullest potential? Microsoft Outlook is an incredibly underutilized program in my experience. There are so many simple features available that can help people manage their emails and workloads more effectively with less stress, saving them valuable time! Commencing Monday July 11, I will be running a series of 3 online outlook productivity training sessions. These are small, intimate training sessions, limited to 12 people in each session. This provides plenty of opportunities for questions & assistance by the Facilitator (me).

Fair Work Ombudsman
Get set for a minimum wage increase
Following its Annual Wage Review 2021-22 , the Fair Work Commission (FWC) has made 2 announcements:
- the National Minimum Wage will increase by $40 per week, which amounts to an increase of 5.2%
- award minimum wages will increase by 4.6%, which is subject to a minimum increase for award classifications of $40 per week and based on a 38-hour week for a full-time employee.
Changes to superannuation from 1 July 2022
In addition to an increase in minimum wages, there are changes to superannuation (super) you should know about taking effect from 1 July. This includes the:
- removal of the $450 super guarantee threshold – go to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website to learn more about this change: Removing the $450 per month threshold for super guarantee eligibility
- increase in the super guarantee rate from 10% to 10.5% – visit the ATO website to learn more about this increase: Get ready for super changes from 1 July .

Hi all,
It certainly has been cold and miserable of late, but I did enjoy the long weekend to do nothing!
I have been out and about the last couple of days and I was able to attend a Renewable Energy Expo at The Cube.
The Powerhouse Event put this on for the Hume region by Mondo and the Hume Community Energy Hub. It was a celebration of the renewables expertise across the border region and beyond, shining a spotlight on the opportunities to become part of a vibrant, reliable and affordable shift to clean local energy.
There was some amazing speakers, and even our Vice President John Day from North East Water made an appearance on the stage.
If you are interested in some more information, please just let me know and I will put you in contact with the relevant people.
I will see you all soon. We have so many exciting things about to happen and I CANNOT WAIT to share them with you.
