Tasty Traditions

Longtime Bowen Team member Doris Cady makes this gingerbread house every year for the holidays.  Bowen Team member Kristin Cady says, “It was a recipe my grandmother tore out of a McCalls magazine in the mid 40s and my mother continued the tradition as we were growing up.” Much like homes in Katy and Fulbrook, the floor plans and exterior flair for this gingerbread house have been enhanced with each new year, to the delight of all who visit and view the dining room table. The gingerbread carousel is also a seasonal favorite with the family.

It's Better to Give Than to Receive

The spirit of volunteering is at its peak during the holidays. RE/MAX agent Linda Kay Beaver gives of her time and talents to Hope Village in the Friendswood area where her oldest son Mark lives. Hope Village is a non-profit residential home in the Houston area for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1970.  "The entire community of Friendswood is very supportive of Hope Village, including the fire department, churches, and dance instructors. Even astronauts from NASA have been out to visit the residents," notes Linda.  In addition to the precious donation of time by volunteers such as Linda, this charity benefits from an annual style show, wine tasting events, a gift shop and cafe, resale shop and golf tournament.  See www.hope-village.com for information.
