Double delight for Motu on Finals DayDavid Motu was the standout performer at Bowls Auckland Finals Day, securing both the Men’s Singles and Men’s Triples titles in a dominant display across the day. He opened with a strong Singles semi-final win over Peter McConnell (21–4), before overcoming Zoran Bartulovich 21–16 in a hard-fought final that extended to 27 ends. Motu then backed it up in the Men’s Triples, helping Auckland BC surge home after a strong challenge from Mt Albert to complete a memorable double. Elsewhere, Carlton Cornwall claimed the Women’s Triples title with a composed win over Howick. One thing worth noting, the face of competitive bowls is clearly evolving. This season’s Auckland Centre Singles titles were both claimed by 19-year-olds, while 17-year-old Liam Hill added a Centre Triples title to the mix. The game is getting younger and just as competitive. 👉 Read full story here Looking ahead, attention now shifts to the Shade Systems Champ of Champs Series, where Finals Day form could prove pivotal. We’ll be keeping an eye on proceedings and look forward to sharing results and highlights from the day. Greenkeepers AGM & Winter Field DayBy Jess MacKinven Greenkeepers from across Auckland and North Harbour came together on Tuesday 28 April for their Annual General Meeting and Winter Field Day, with an excellent turnout from clubs across both centres.
