Watching from the wings: Fox parents' perspective

The Forst Family

One of the great joys of parenthood is watching your child grow, and the college years can be particularly rewarding for parents and families. While long past needing hand-holding, young adults at college are exploring the world in new and different ways.

The mother of Karl Forst, BBA ’21, shares her perspective on the value of student professional organizations…

As a member of Gamma Iota Sigma (a student professional organization for those interested in insurance, risk management and actuarial science), Karl worked with other students and advisors to plan receptions, invite speakers to events and facilitate career fairs. As an officer of Gamma, he attended national conferences and gained strong leadership and organization skills. He also put together the group’s first online career fair, with overwhelming positive feedback and many students receiving job offers. When Karl was in high school applying for college, we hoped he would find a college and a major that enabled him to use his strengths and interests, and added new skills, knowledge and experiences to prepare him to get a job and begin a career. At the Fox School, Karl has grown both professionally and personally.
