Principal update

Hello all,

I am now a month into my new role as Principal here at Highgate, and I have to say I have received a lot of support from pupils, parents, carers and staff so far, so I am incredibly grateful for that.

I have also just successfully completed my Trauma Informed diploma, so I am excited to start implementing this approach across the school.

I am also looking forward to meeting parents and carers at the 'Highgate's

Got Talent' event on Weds 14th Dec (more details below). It promises to be a fantastic event, I can't wait to see the secret talents everyone's been hiding! Please can all parents/carers who are planning on coming along on the day let us know in advance so that we can ensure we have enough chairs and mince pies for everyone?!

Key Christmas dates

We've got some exciting Christmas events coming up, so make

sure they're in your diary!

Weds 14th December - Highgate's Got Talent! A whole school Christmas Talent Show where pupils and staff will have the opportunity, if they would like, to display their talents to the rest of the school. Parents/Carers can also take part if they wish! Please call the School Office in advance to book seats if you are planning to attend. 

Thurs 15th December - Christmas Dinner Day - Christmas jumpers are optional on this day. 

Friday 16th December - Christmas activities followed by Christmas films. Please note that we will be having packed lunch on this day to give our School Cook Sharon a rest (and a chance to deep clean the kitchen before the holidays). Children can either prepare their own lunch at school or bring something from home. 

Not this time....

Sadly we didn't win this time, but we are very proud to be finalists nonetheless!

The winners of the 'ISA Award for Excellence and Innovation in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion' on the night were Hendon Prep School, based in North London. Congratulations to them!

The judging panel said: "congratulations to all finalists and highly commended schools for this year's awards. This year marked a record number of entries, making the judging process an even more difficult task than it is usually".

Children in Need

On Friday 18th November, we invited pupils and staff to come to school in something spotty to help raise awareness and much needed funds for Children in Need. 

We even enjoyed these delicious spotty iced biscuits!

An unusual visitor

We were lucky enough to spot this unusual visitor recently whilst crabbing near the Lock Gates in Bude. He's been spotted several times around the Bude coastline escaping the rough seas of late. What a treat!
