One Month Until the 2nd Annual Whoopie Pie Festival
September 16 is the Second Annual Whoopie Pie Festival in Downtown Rutland! Join us and our community partners from 12:00-5:00 p.m. on Center Street and Merchants Row. Sample whoopie pies from over a dozen bakers, watch Dream Maker Bakers assemble a 700-pound whoopie pie, enjoy live entertainment like The Red Trouser Show, eat from food trucks, and much more! T-Shirts are now available to order through Come Alive Outside. Early bird pricing is until August 24. Shirts will be for sale at the event as well. For Jenna Baird and Jacob Powsner, life on the farm doesn’t often slow down. Part owners of Baird Farm in Chittenden, the husband-and-wife duo first got seriously involved in the business in 2015. RRMC First Hospital in Vermont to Receive StormReady Certification from NOAA
On Thursday, August 3, Scott Whittier, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the Vermont office for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), presented the StormReady Certification to Rutland Regional Medical
Center. In order for Rutland Regional to become a StormReady Supporter, the hospital’s emergency preparedness team worked on incorporating weather preparedness into their existing emergency action plans. Key to this effort was ensuring that the hospital has the process in place to receive and disseminate emergency weather information, preparedness activities, and action items in the case of hazardous weather. The Northern Border Regional Commission is accepting letters of interest for the fall 2023 round of the Forest Economy Program! The Commission’s Forest Economy Program (FEP) supports the regional forest-based economy and the industry’s evolution to include new technologies and viable business models across the 4-state NBRC region. Letters of Interest will be accepted from all

We hosted our second Rosie’s Girls camp last week! More than 15 Middle School girls and gender-expansive youth spent 40+ hours at The MINT learning how to weld, use power tools, build friendships, and challenge societal norms! Are you a painter who has been curious about pottery? Perfect! In this introductory class, we will explore some fundamentals of slab building, tools and texture. We will make a paint palette (as simple or ornate as you want!) and a water cup with brush holders. Introduction to Metal Work: Flowers
In this fun and comfortable environment, you will learn to cut, form, and shape sheet metal. You will also get a very quick introduction to welding. No previous experience is necessary, all are welcome, including adult-accompanied youth above the age of 8. Introduction to MIG Welding
In this fun and comfortable environment you will learn the awesome skill of how to use a MIG Welder, one of the most versatile welding tools. No previous experience is necessary, all are welcome, including adult-accompanied youth above the age of 10. Introduction to Clay: Plates!
Why eat your food off boring dishes when you can make your own?! Come join us at the MINT for one or two sessions on making plates. Tiffany will guide you through the process. During the last session, you will glaze your plates so they are colorful and ready to use. Upcoming Classes for Youth: Cardboard Creations
Learn how to shape and manipulate cardboard into a mask that sits on your head like a hat. This is a drop-off session for teens (generally kids 13+ but younger kids are welcome if they will be able to complete the project without caregiver help).
