Establishment of the Avondale FundThe process to finalise the last distribution of funds remaining from the sale of the Avondale Bowling Club has been complex. However, Bowls Auckland is delighted to announce the establishment of the Avondale Fund. The Fund will enable the distribution of the remaining monies back into the community via the named clubs and for the benefit of lawn bowls in Auckland. Dean Bartlett, Bowls Auckland CEO commented, "Along with the incoming Committee, we are committed to ensuring the remaining funds are maximised, that the legacy of the Avondale Bowling Club can long continue through future supported projects. We understand that not all clubs are eligible for this Fund, however, we will continue our support of all clubs through the Rawhiti Fund and indirectly Blue Waters Community Trust." New sets of bowls for East TamakiBlue Waters Community Trust recently awarded East Tamaki Bowls a grant of $7,000 for 10 sets of lawn bowls. Yesterday, Club President Trevor Martin said "Funding through Blue Waters Community Trust is a fantastic idea - we don't know why we didn't do it earlier!" He went on to say, "The bowls arrived this morning, which is perfect timing. We have a group of 40 from the local gym coming in for a roll up this afternoon, so we get to put the bowls to good use straight away. And of course, they will come in handy when we start Twilight Bowls." Club Leaders workshopWe held our second workshop in our Club Leaders programme on Tuesday, 5 December.
