Learning how to manage credit, create a budget, or navigate the rental and homebuying process in the United States can seem like a daunting process for many. ORR-eligible clients also face these challenges, but often without the cultural or systems know-how. The organizations and individuals serving these clients should be well-versed in all aspects of housing as to best serve these populations. HUD Housing Counseling is an excellent way to learn about budgeting, credit, renting, homebuying, and more. Refugee Housing Solutions (RHS) has offered a Housing Expertise and HUD Housing Counseling Prep Course for over a year. This course provides participants serving ORR-eligible clients with the expertise necessary to best assist them and prepares those interested in taking their HUD Certified Housing Counselor exam. Join us Tuesday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. ET for a virtual showcase of learnings and best practices from RHS’ facilitation of this intensive class over the past year, the results we have seen, and how we plan to improve classes in the future. Plus, learn how you can sign up for the next class. The term "ORR-eligible populations" refers to individuals who are eligible to receive services and benefits administered by the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Eligibility is determined by Congress, and exact benefits may vary by eligibility category. For a current list of eligible populations, please visit ORR's website.
