All University of Pittsburgh Animal Researchers:

Effective June 1, 2021

The IACUC will move all animal research related training to the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) platform. We have combined general research utilizing animals with both the small and large animal courses to reduce the number of courses everyone is required to take. In addition, we have updated the controlled substances course.  The IACUC has adopted CITI’s species-specific courses that researchers will be required to complete dependent on the species used in their IACUC protocols. The new training regimen will be located on the Training page on the IACUC website.

Please note that new training for the small and large animal general courses will be required for new investigators/research staff and will be required every four years.  This means that if you have previously completed the General courses, you will not be required to complete the new training until the previous training has expired (3-4 years). These changes will be implemented immediately.

Please contact the IACUC office at iacuc@pitt.edu or (412) 383-2008 with any questions.
