NEWS I New model reveals best-buys for child and adolescent obesity prevention

A new systems dynamics model, developed by statistician Dr. Simon Chiu and funded by The Australian Prevention Partnership Centre, explores the likely population outcomes of a range of strategies to reduce obesity in children and adolescents. The model highlights the 'best buys' or low-cost, population-wide solutions for tackling childhood obesity. You can explore these strategies through a live simulation tool, designed to help you examine different policy scenarios in a testing environment. Read more

The Sax Institute’s 45 and Up Study is backing pioneering research by the University of Sydney and Westmead Hospital that explores the link between living a healthy lifestyle and a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease for women experiencing early menopause. Read more

PROFILE I Prevention people  

Associate Professor Jaithri Ananthapavan leads the Economics of Prevention team within Deakin Health Economics and the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE) at Deakin University. Jaithri collaborates with national and international organisations, including the World Health Organization, Cancer Councils, and federal and state governments, on assessing the cost-effectiveness of various obesity prevention interventions. Read more
