Last week SA Health sent through an updated facts sheet relating to COVID19 Compliance and Frequenly Asked Questions for places of Worship. The facts sheet was promoted on the Synod's social media platforms and is also available for download from the Synod website.

Red Dove Cafe

Thanks to all who supported the Moderator’s suggestion to donate to Red Dove Café Day this year. Although the cafe could not operate at the Royal Adelaide Show again this year, they have still managed to raise $22,000 which will go towards supporting various mission initiatives.

Stipends Update

At its meeting on 3rd December 2021, the Synod Standing Committee approved an increase to the minimum ministerial stipend of 2.25% effective from 1st January 2022. This decision was made on the recommendation of the Synod’s Stipends Committee. More information is available in this week's News & Notices.

CALD Research Report

Mission Resourcing has released its draft research report on ‘Mapping Intercultural Neighbourhoods in SA.’ It presents the findings of a CALD-Intercultural Ministry Survey with 55 Uniting Church leaders and interviews with 30 CALD leaders, which was conducted between March and May 2021.

2022 Calendar Orders Update

Please be aware that we still have some calendar orders waiting to be picked up from the Synod office. If you have opted to pick your calendar order up from the Pirie Street office, please do so between Monday to Friday during normal office hours. Please note that the office will close at 3.00 pm on Friday, 24th December 2021.

As you prepare for the coming Christmas season, please email through your service times to Engagement for inclusion on the Synod website. All other events (other than worship services) should be submitted via the Events form in the usual way.

Christmas Office Closure

The Synod office at 212 Pirie Street and the Brooklyn Park Unitng College Campus will both be closed from 3.00 pm on Friday, 24th December 2021 and will re-open again on 4th January 2022.

Prayer Points

This week we pray for:

  • For all refugees that are displaced, living in fear and insecurity that we may be compassionate and generous in our care of all peoples
  • For the people of the United States as they come to terms with the devastation and loss of life due to the recent tornadoes
  • Leaders of worship and faith formation across the Uniting Church as they guide us prayerfully through the Advent season and all congregations as they prepare joyful worship during the Christmas season.

 


Reflection

Prayer is in many ways the criterion of Christian life. Prayer requires that we stand in God's presence with open hands, naked and vulnerable, proclaiming to ourselves and to others that without God we can do nothing - difficult in a climate where the predominant counsel is ‘Do your best and God will do the rest.’
