Click here 7th June 2022Living the Covenant LocallyRecently the Uniting Church Assembly and the Walking Together as First and Second Peoples Circle launched a new initiative - Living the Covenant Locally. It is an invitation for Second Peoples of the Church to engage in learning, theological study and action to deepen their relationship with First Peoples, to grow their understanding of the injustices they face and to live out their commitment to work for a more just Church and nation. The launch of this new initiative comes after the Assembly renewed its covenant relationship with the Uniting Aboriginal Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) at the reconvened 16th Assembly. Read more Synod Meeting UpdateFurther reports have been added to the Synod ’22 page of the main Uniting Church website. These reports are now available for viewing. We encourage you to continue to check the website as new information and reports are being uploaded on a regular basis as they are received. Some of these are filled by appointment and some are filled by a nomination/election process. With due attention to Synod by-laws, members of Synod are invited to submit nominations for vacant positions. Read more Principles of a Child Safe UCA poster and art-workHopefully many of you have the 'Principles of a Child Safe Uniting Church in Australia' poster displayed in your congregations. These were distributed about eighteen months ago. The National Safe Church Unit has now produced one in Plain English with additional artwork by an Indigenous artist. Plain English is used in communities for whom English is a second language to communicate more clearly. If you would like to download a copy it is available at the following link. Read more Uniting Foundation Grant Round OpensCongregations, Faith Communities and individuals are invited to apply for funding to assist with missional projects which will build vibrant church communities leading the Church into the future. The projects need to be able to demonstrate how the missional effectiveness of the applying body will be enhanced. The amount of available funds impacts the Committee’s ability to fund projects. Accordingly, applications need to meet the established criteria. The applying body’s Mission and Service Fund contribution status is also considered when assessing applications. More than a ‘you had to be there’ joke, more than a ‘you’ll understand one day’ moment … something so utterly indescribable that you cannot even begin to find the words to communicate its beauty and significance? I get the feeling that Pentecost was one of those moments for the disciples. We can imagine Luke’s struggle to put into words the disciples’ experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit for the very first time.
