February 2023 newsletter from St Petroc's Early Years! Dear Parents & Carers, This month has just flown past - we've been lucky with the weather and so have been taking the children out and about in our local area whenever possible, spotting the much-welcomed signs that Spring is just around the corner on our travels. We've been busy making gloop and pancakes topped with butter, jam, lemon and sugar, learning about plants and growing vegetables, plus sharing lots of poems and stories as we lead up to World Book Day later this week. I would like to draw your attention to some important dates listed further down in this newsletter - particularly to the Easter Quiz that we have planned for 6th April at Bude Rugby Club. We would be very grateful to any support or kind donations that you can offer to this fundraising event. Kind Regards, Tahira White Early Years Manager & Designated Safeguarding Lead World Book Day - Thursday 2nd MarchWeather permitting we are hoping to take the children to visit the local library in Bude. We will be walking the children down and then catching the local bus back to the setting to incorporate celebrating 'World Book Day'. Beach tripsWe have been blessed with some lovely frosty mornings and sunny days so we have been enjoying some walks to the beach with the children. Everyone has really enjoyed making sand castles, digging holes, making patterns in the sand, finding rocks and searching for shells. We will continue to keep an eye on the weather, and as and when staffing levels allow, we will continue to make the most of our local area. Tax free childcare schemeThe Tax Free Childcare Scheme issue we were having has now been resolved and we are finally up and running. When making a payment, the reference is 'St Petroc's School Nursery'. House of Chaplin visitMore photos of another lovely trip that the children enjoyed recently, walking all the way to the canal to feed the ducks and all the way back again after a snack and hot chocolate at House of Chaplin! Thank you so much to the café staff for making us all feel so welcome. MedicationsFollowing on from the letter sent out to parents and carers on 17th February, if your child/ren have recently been prescribed an internal medication, please ensure they have been taking the medication for a minimum of 48 hours after the first dose before being accepted back into the setting. If your child/ren have been prescribed creams, the medication must have been applied for a minimum of 24 hours after the first application before being accepted back into the setting. In both cases, they may only return to the setting providing they are well enough and not contagious. Many thanks for your understanding. If your child/ren are absent due to illness the sessions are still charged at the usual rate as the staffing has already been arranged to ensure the correct ratios.
