Hello 2024 NYSF Year 12 Program Participants,

We're back with another exciting NYSF update that is sure to help you power through your exams and get you even more excited for January!

In this update:

You're invited to the NYSF Online Orientation!

You're invited to join us online on 29 November 2023, 6-7pm (AEDT) for the NYSF Orientation. We'll be giving you information on everything from buddies, to accommodation, to program announcements and more!

Complete the Student Travel Details form

The Student Travels Details form collects information about how you will be travelling to and from the 2024 NYSF Year 12 Program. This information will allow us to understand how and when you will be arriving and where required, coordinate shuttle buses to transport you from Brisbane and Canberra Airports, major train and bus stations to your accommodation. All students must complete this form by 30 November regardless of your travel arrangements. 

Please only complete this form once your travel arrangements are confirmed.

You would not believe the STEM site visits, guest speakers, and experiences we have lined up for you in January! Catch a sneak peek at one of the visits you might participate in below, and keep your eyes peeled for further updates on Whova closer to January.

 

Experience the Gadi supercomputer face to face at the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI)

NYSFers will tour the NCI data centre, encompassing its supercomputer and large-scale storage systems. You'll also hear about the kinds of research being undertaken at the facility and the broader impact of that research in the community.

 

Immerse yourself in the engineering of the Cross River Rail project

The team at the Cross River Rail project have invited NYSFers to learn more about civil engineering. At this site visit NYSFers will hear from project engineers, experience the many facets of this mega-project in the immersive 270-degree Reality Theatre, and explore the future Cross River Rail stations.

 
 
 

Frequently Asked Questions

I am being dropped off by my parent/guardian for the program. Do I still need to fill in the Student Travel Details form?

Yes. All students, regardless of how they intend to travel to the program must complete the Student Travel Details form. Please complete it by 30 November 2023 at the very latest. 

What protections are in place to ensure my safety and wellbeing on Whova?

At the NYSF, the health, safety and well-being of participants, staff, volunteers, and collaborators is our highest priority. We have a strict zero-tolerance policy to bullying and harassment, and we carefully monitor all of our official social media channels for any inappropriate behaviour. 

If at anytime you feel bullied or uncomfortable due to the behaviour of others, contact a member of staff immediately by emailing programs@nysf.edu.au.
