Revised ADA and EASD hyperglycaemia guidance now available

Two leading diabetes organisations have unveiled new consensus on the management of hyperglycaemia in type 2 diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) has published new recommendations on how to improve equity of care and reviews on how social determinants of health impact the management of hyperglycaemia.

FreeStyle Libre® reduces diabetes-related hospitalisations for people with type 2 diabetes on once-daily insulin therapy

People living with type 2 diabetes on once-daily insulin therapy can prevent being admitted to hospital by using the FreeStyle Libre® continuous glucose monitoring system, latest data shows.

Abbott has found these results from the Real-World Evidence of FreeStyle Libre (RELIEF) study and has presented them during the 58th Annual European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) meeting.

New JBDS co-chair announced

The new co-chair of an influential group of senior clinicians has pledged to “raise standards” and “encourage innovations” in inpatient diabetes care.

Dr Omar Mustafa has been announced as the new co-chair of the Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care group (JBDS-IP), alongside Professor Ketan Dhatariya.

A pilot project has been launched in Norfolk to help Polish people living with diabetes in the region.

Specialist diabetes community nurses, dieticians, and physicians from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) have begun working with interpreters and offering educational resources translated into Polish to help people living with diabetes to better manage their condition.
