NYSF Staffies have been though the NYSF Year 12 Program in recent years and subsequently undergo training through the NYSF Student Staff Leadership Program. "I still have a few career ideas in mind, but I’m interested in immunology, physiology and biomedicine! I love learning anything and everything about the human body, and I'm also interested in biopharmaceuticals and the business aspect, such as introducing new products to the market." "I connected on similar levels with NYSF friends, regarding areas of passion like microbiology, as well as similar ambitions and hobbies like surfing. It was great having the support and community from NYSF friends, and I valued all the new connections I made." - Staffie Sophie Program announcement We're busy locking in the most awe-inspiring, conversation-starting, future-looking speakers and visits for you in January. Our digital program has no geographical boundary, so we are expanding your options! Closer to home, we have many fantastic visits to STEM organisations around Australia in the works. The best bit? If you want to, you'll be able to mix and match sessions between in-person and digital hubs, depending on your STEM interests. See how they design a solar car which is completely powered by the energy collected from the sun (using about the same amount of energy needed to power a toaster) and how you can be involved in projects like these at universities around Australia. Meet Ellie, a 2021 NYSFer who will be driving the car! ![]() The future is quantum Take a walk through a real physics laboratory at the Quantum Optics Lab at the University of Queensland. They are working on a range of projects including biosensing, quantum squeezing, nanomechanics, magnetometry, superfluid helium, and ultrasound sensing. Their devices and experiments employ a huge range of different physics, with applications ranging from human health to new kinds of computers to underground communication. ![]() Discover gravitational waves OzGrav specialise in all things gravitational waves - the astrophysics of black holes and neutron stars, the data analysis to identify their signals, and the materials and lasers required to detect them.
