Introducing you to Staffie Sophie!
We're excited to introduce you to Staffie Sophie!
NYSF Staffies have been though the NYSF Year 12 Program in recent years and subsequently undergo training through the NYSF Student Staff Leadership Program.
"I still have a few career ideas in mind, but I’m interested in immunology, physiology and biomedicine! I love learning anything and everything about the human body, and I'm also interested in biopharmaceuticals and the business aspect, such as introducing new products to the market."
"I connected on similar levels with NYSF friends, regarding areas of passion like microbiology, as well as similar ambitions and hobbies like surfing. It was great having the support and community from NYSF friends, and I valued all the new connections I made."

Program announcement
We're busy locking in the most awe-inspiring, conversation-starting, future-looking speakers and visits for you in January. Our digital program has no geographical boundary, so we are expanding your options! Closer to home, we have many fantastic visits to STEM organisations around Australia in the works.
The best bit? If you want to, you'll be able to mix and match sessions between in-person and digital hubs, depending on your STEM interests.
Here's a teaser, with a mix of digital and in-person visits around the country in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and our Digital Hub.

3000km in a solar racer
Learn about the world of solar racing with student-led ANU Solar Racing! See how they design a solar car which is completely powered by the energy collected from the sun (using about the same amount of energy needed to power a toaster) and how you can be involved in projects like these at universities around Australia.
Meet Ellie, a 2021 NYSFer who will be driving the car!
The future is quantum
Take a walk through a real physics laboratory at the Quantum Optics Lab at the University of Queensland. They are working on a range of projects including biosensing, quantum squeezing, nanomechanics, magnetometry, superfluid helium, and ultrasound sensing. Their devices and experiments employ a huge range of different physics, with applications ranging from human health to new kinds of computers to underground communication.
Discover gravitational waves
OzGrav specialise in all things gravitational waves - the astrophysics of black holes and neutron stars, the data analysis to identify their signals, and the materials and lasers required to detect them. You'll see how the LIGO gravitational wave detector works and investigate the lifecycle of stars. Meet the people who have their heads in the cosmos and find out how you can join them.

Every Rotary District runs the interview processes a little differently, so we have prepared information below to help. If you cannot find an answer in relation to your query, please get in contact.
If you:
Have already been selected and received an offer from the NYSF:
Congratulations! Please accept your offer to start your onboarding. Once you accept your offer and complete your online participation form, both you and your parent/guardian will receive a program agreement via email to read and sign, and once we have your signed agreement, an invoice for the program fee will be sent to your parent. Program fees are due on 13 November.
Are waiting to hear back about the result of your application for an NYSF Access and Equity Scholarship:
Scholarship applications closed on 25 October and we are now busily assessing your responses. You will hear from us by 4 November.
Have submitted your application and have already been contacted by Rotary for an interview:

Good news! Soon after you apply you will be contacted to take part in a late round interview process which will be centralised and will include representatives from Rotary and in some cases, NYSF alumni.
