Discover two new toolkits for recruiting housing providers and navigating financial barriers to housing refugees. Learn How to Recruit Housing Providers, and Discover a New Way to Address Financial Barriers to Housing RefugeesRefugee Housing Solutions recently published two new toolkits for resettlement staff, sponsors, and volunteers working to secure housing for refugees and other newcomers. The How to Recruit and Retain Housing Providers Toolkit is a comprehensive review of all details, from planning through outreach and stewardship, for resettlement agency staff – especially those tasks with finding safe, affordable housing from “new-to-refugee-tenants” landlords and apartment building rental staff. This toolkit shares new and different ways – with a focus on networking and hitting the streets – to reach previously unused housing providers.Developed in collaboration with RHS, the International Rescue Committee’s Rent Pre-Payment Loan Toolkit is shared for use with refugees and other newcomers who can benefit from securing a no-interest loan from the IRC’s Center for Economic Opportunity to pre-pay a landlord for their first several or more (up to 6 months or $15,000). The toolkit highlights a program created, piloted, and now fully utilized to support refugees/newcomers in securing permanent housing. The toolkit guides resettlement practitioners through the process of creating a revolving loan program that will help people secure permanent housing while helping resettlement agencies multiply the impact of monetary housing support to refugees and other newcomers.Looking for technical assistance?Book a one-on-one session with an RHS housing expert in just a few clicks.
