Federal Government announces Job Trainer

The Federal Government announced a new Skills Package as part of their economic response to COVID-19. The package is designed to keep apprentices in jobs and support more Australians to undertake training in areas of demand. Their media release said, ‘Backing training, apprentices, and jobs is all part of the Morrison Government’s plan to restore our economy after the coronavirus pandemic and keep Australians in work.’​

Border Closure

  • You can apply for the border declaration permit via the Service NSW website, here.  It should only take a few minutes.
  • Cross-border residents within a 50km vicinity of the border will automatically qualify for a ‘Type-C’ permit, 
  • Both adults and children are required to get a permit to travel from Victoria to NSW
  • The permit is valid for 14 days from the date of issue

The Fair Work Commission has extended the entitlement to unpaid pandemic leave and annual leave at half pay in 63 awards.

What is Schedule X?

Schedule X is a temporary schedule in some awards. It gives employees:

  • 2 weeks of unpaid pandemic leave
  • the ability to take twice as much annual leave at half their normal pay if their employer agrees.
