A data tool has been developed by the GIRFT team to help trusts and systems in England to calculate the benefits of employing diabetes inpatient specialist nurses (DISNs).

The easy-to-use tool – created by GIRFT and co-badged by the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) and Diabetes UK – calculates the return on investment (ROI) if trusts were to invest in employing more DISN nurses.

Trust to offer world-first home oral glucose tolerance testing technology to women at risk of gestational diabetes

Medway NHS Foundation Trust will become the latest maternity services provider to extend new remote oral glucose tolerance testing (OGTT) to all expectant mothers at risk of gestational diabetes.  

The collaboration between Digostics and Medway NHS Foundation Trust will involve the full implementation of GTT@home – the world’s first commercially available home use OGTT, and the only alternative to traditional clinic-based testing.
