Coming Soon: Only Individuals with Pitt or UPMC Email Accounts Can be Added to Protocols Submitted through ARO and MyIBC

Soon, only a Pitt or UPMC email address can be used to login to the ARO or MyIBC protocol management systems, and only individuals with a Pitt or UPMC login can be added to protocols.  If you log into these systems with a different address (such as Gmail), follow this guidance to change your login address to your primary PITT account.

Historically, both the MyIBC and ARO systems used HSConnect as an authentication mechanism.  HSConnect allows users to login through a third-party email account.  Other systems used by researchers require Pitt Passport for authentication.

Coming soon, an integrated, single dashboard will allow investigators to interact with all the information systems related to their research.  It is critical to accurately match accounts across systems, and this requires the use of the same login address in every system.

The new authentication system will permit the use of either Pitt Passport or UPMC Azure to login.  Any individual listed in the ARO or MyIBC systems with a different email address must update their account by July 31, 2021.  Individuals with a Pitt account are strongly encouraged to authenticate through Pitt Passport.

This document provides guidance on transitioning a third-party account to a Pitt account.

In the future, visiting investigators must have a sponsored Pitt account to be added to a protocol submitted through ARO or MyIBC.  Investigators are reminded that compliance with the Visitor Policy is required for visiting investigators to conduct research in University laboratories.
