As part of its goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, Canada has introduced new regulations mandating that one-fifth of all vehicles sold in Canada are electric by 2026. To meet this goal, the federal government — and some provincial ones as well — has introduced financial supports to help Canadians afford electric vehicles.
But despite these supports, the sheer number of hybrid and electric vehicle options can make the idea of switching to a hybrid or electric vehicle daunting for many.
Today in The Conversation Canada, Gaoliang Fang from McMaster University offers a guide to understanding hybrid and electric vehicles and deciding which is most suitable for a buyer’s lifestyle. Fang’s pros and cons for each type of vehicle will help those interested in a greener vehicle find the type best suited to their lifestyle.
