ITC Great Plains Newsletter C. Patrick Woods Named Great Plains president
C. Patrick Woods has been promoted to Vice President of ITC Holdings Corp. and President of ITC Great Plains. In this role, Woods will provide leadership and strategic direction for ITC Great Plains, overseeing state government affairs, regulatory strategy, community relations, customer and business solutions and project development. “ITC Great Plains plays a vital role in strengthening the region’s energy infrastructure and supporting the communities we serve,” Woods said. “I am honored to step into this role and look forward to working with our team to advance reliable transmission solutions that meet the needs of customers, stakeholders and the evolving energy landscape.” ITC Great Plains Joins Sunflower ITC Great Plains and Sunflower Electric Power Corporation are collaborating on a 360-mile, 345-kV transmission line to improve grid reliability, resiliency and capacity across the central United States. The need for this project was identified by the Southwest Power Pool, following extreme weather events like Winter Storm Uri (2021) and Winter Storm Elliot (2022) that exposed vulnerabilities in the grid. As co-owner, ITC Great Plains will work closely with Sunflower throughout the planning and construction process. Sunflower is coordinating meetings for local leaders and elected officials and will follow with open houses in February for landowners and community stakeholders. These sessions, supported by both Sunflower and ITC Great Plains, will offer opportunities to learn about the project, ask questions, and share input. Once the proposed route is finalized in mid-2026, it will be submitted to the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) for review, a process that typically takes about 180 days. ITC Great Plains Sponsors ITC Great Plains recently sponsored the 2026 Oklahoma Speaker’s Ball, one of the state’s signature civic-political galas. The non-partisan gala raised funds for charitable organization Benefitting Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight, a charitable organization that honors Oklahoma veterans through commemorative travel and recognition.
