Do you remember what's it's like to attend a LISC Phoenix Annual Breakfast & Community Awards? After fours years, we'll admit our memory is a little hazy. And like many of you, some of our staff has never attended. So we wanted to take this opportunity to tell you what to expect this year and why you won't want to miss it.
8:00 a.m.
Arrive and grab you name tag. Greet old industry friends. Introduce yourself to someone new. Grab some coffee to fuel you through our first hour of activities. Visit the Connection Zone to meet three featured grantees: Arouet, RAIL CDC and Southwest Human Development. They've planned interactive stations to help you learn about their work. Get your photo taken surrounded by historic architecture or do a video interview with LocalBuzz. Play LISC Phoenix Trivia for prizes and bragging rights; let's find out who knows us best.
8:50 a.m.
If you've been too busy to visit the breakfast buffet, do it now. Grab your breakfast, refill your coffee and find your seat so our program can begin promptly at 9:00.
9:00 a.m.
We pack as much as we can into our one-hour program. We'll have greetings from our Presenting Sponsor PNC Bank, a welcome from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, and a keynote dialog on climate justice sponsored by Wells Fargo, all before we transition into our community awards presentation. We'll close out with gratitudes from LISC Phoenix Executive Director Terry Benelli and a spoken word performance created just for this event from poet Sean Avery Medlin.
10:00 a.m.
The program is over, but no need to rush out. Catch up with folks you missed. Process what you learned. Take that energy back into your work and your community.
Important Information
What to wear. Creative casual, business dress, wear whatever makes you feel your best. Remember that the event is outside. Prepare for a cool weather in the morning and the likelihood of a breeze on the terrace by bringing a jacket or sweater. In the case of rain, we'll be inside.
How to get there. The Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel is on Adams Street between Central Avenue and 1st Street. Take the light rail to the Washington/Central or Jefferson/1st station. If you're driving, valet parking is available at the hotel at the entrance on 1st Street. Nearby parking garages include the Convention Center Regency Garage at 2nd Street and Adams and the Chase Garage at 1st Street and Monroe. When you arrive, go to the elevator bank in the center of the hotel and come up to the fifth floor.
Why we need you there. Our work is as multifaceted as the communities we work with. We can't tell that story without folks from all parts of our network showing up. We bet you'll say, "I didn't know LISC did that," at least once. Plus, we've missed seeing you in real life!
