China’s continued rise as a world power has attracted a wealth of scholarly interest in the country’s legal, political, economic and cultural landscape. This new series provides a space for original research on all aspects of Chinese law and policy, including but not limited to: law and society in China, legal aspects of China’s foreign policy and international relations, and comparative analysis of China’s legal system. Going beyond doctrinal research, the series invites methodologically diverse work; empirical, interdisciplinary, and theoretically sophisticated studies are particularly welcome, including reflections on Chinese legal thought.

The series is open to both authored and edited books addressing topics such as:

  • Socio-legal perspectives on Chinese law and society
  • Traditional and contemporary Chinese legal thought
  • Legal aspects of China’s foreign policy and international relations
  • Criminal law and legal reform in China
  • Environmental protection and climate governance under Chinese law
  • China and the International Legal Order
  • Information law, digital privacy, and media regulation
  • Chinese law in comparative perspective
  • Human rights in Chinese and international contexts

If your research covers Chinese law and policy, we’d love to hear from you. We welcome proposals for both authored and edited volumes.

Please contact our Senior Commissioning Editor Stephanie Tytherleigh if you would be interested in submitting a book proposal to be considered for this series.
