Visual Artist/ Muralist/ Community Arts Educator Designing MotherhoodOn view until November 14th, 2021 Center for Architecture and Design, 1218 Arch St, Philadelphia This week is the last chance to see my newly commissioned diptych "Mother of Life" and "Mother of Abundance" that is currently on view at the Center for Architecture and Design in Philadelphia. The works are part of the "Designing Motherhood" exhibition. As part of my commission, I created a diptych representing the energies of Yemaya and Oshun through the portraits of mothers, Kety Alvarez and Dormowa Kabbah. Both mothers are part of the amazing team at the Maternity Care Coalition. “Designing Motherhood” invites viewers to consider why and how we developed designs to facilitate reproductive health and to ponder the political, economic, and social implications of how we medicalize reproduction. These are not just women’s issues. They are human issues. They matter to us all.
