    SurPASS Tip of the Month

**Update your NIH Biosketch to SciENcv SOON**

NIH is updating its requirement for Biosketches and Other Support documents.

    • NIH will require the use of Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv) to complete the Biosketch and Other Support so digitally certified PDF(s) can be used in an application submission.
    • NIH will also require all Senior/Key Personnel to enter their ORCID ID into SciENcv in the Persistent Identifier (PID) section of the Common Forms. NIH will require all Senior/Key Personnel to link their ORCID ID to their eRA Commons Personal Profile. For information on linking an ORCID ID to the eRA Commons Personal Profile see the ORCID ID topic in the eRA Commons online help.

Starting soon, NIH will no longer accept the current NIH Biosketch or NIH Other Support documents. The process to complete your Biosketch in SciENcv may take 1-4 hours the first time. After that, you will only need to update for each new project.

**Please reach out to Lynn Cummings, Grants Operations Coordinator, to get a head start before your next application to convert your Biosketch to the SciENcv required form!**

    Biostatistics Consulting Service

Biostats services are available to all faculty with a primary appointment in the Department of Surgery. The department maintains an integration agreement with the MCW Biostatistics Consulting Service within the Data Science Institute. Criteria for use of the service under the integration agreement are:

    • The project is hypothesis-driven and funding is not available.
    • The work is planned to result in a grant application, publication, or podium presentation.
    • The project is discussed with the division chief to ensure the work is pursuing the goals of the division.

Services can be requested by completing this form and submitting it to Kelly Birmingham and Krissa Packard.

The project will be assigned a department ID for tracking purposes and the request will then be submitted in iLab to the Biostatistics Consulting Service. The assigned biostatistician will then contact the PI to schedule an initial consult meeting. The biostatistician provides an estimate to Division of Research administration for approval.

For projects that do not meet the criteria above, biostatistics services can be requested by the PI through the PI’s lab in iLab. An account is required.  If the request is for preparatory work related to a grant application, it is expected that the biostatistician effort is included in the grant application.

For any questions, please contact Kelly Birmingham.
